They are due tomorrow during the day, I believe, and I have an awful lot of nomination slots available, so, if anyone has anything they are dying to see nominated, let me know!

Also need to start thinking about yuletide. I can't do the trick of "just request everything you didn't get last year" because I literally got everything I asked for last year, with my *six* stories thanks to the magic of pinch hits. :-)

And in the realm of the rest of my life, scheduling things for the month of october is killllling me, slowly but surely. My mother rearranging family stuff again is really not helping. I may wind up going down for a family party and taking a train or bus back the same night so I can... no, wait, damn it, that plan doesn't work after all. ARGH. My brother's engagement party as during Hurricane Irene, so I couldn't go, and then I was supposed to go home next weekend for a family party, but my cousin (the one with the infant) has to move because of Irene flooding, but my mother didn't tell me she'd cancelled that plan until I had already made lots of decisions based around it. Ugh. I hate scheduling.

Okay, I loved it. It is not perfect, the high school characters fit a bit too neatly into high school stereotypes, but it's only the pilot. I am hoping for hidden depth, but even if it's not there, it's a fricking musical comedy show about singing. They will probably do songs from musicals! I've never been in a singing group, but man, I wish I could be in a glee club! I REALIZE THIS MAKES ME DORKIER THAN LARPERS BY THIS SHOW'S LOGIC. (Also, omg, it makes fun of LARPers! It mentions LARPers!!!)

Basic plot: Earnest and sweet high school teacher looks to regain past glory by restarting his school's glee club, full of a ragtime band of ~~misfits~~ losers: the too-well dressed probably gay boy, the kid in the wheelchair (who plays a mean guitar), the sassy black chick, the hopefully lesbian quiet asian girl, the quarterback with a secret heart of maybe-gold, and the overly earnest, pretty and talented by friendless girl who desperately wants to be something. That last one is Rachel, and something about her... that yearning and longing to be better than Lima, Ohio, to be loved and appreciated and seen, it speaks to me. There is some serious grab-bag diversity and stereotypes going on (why oh why must the black chick be so sassy), but I have hope, guys. In the background we have the glee teacher's (Will) painful wife, who is shrill and demanding and pushy and I just hope they show us why they are still together, that they really do love each other, that she has some secret pain she is trying to fill with, uh, the pottery barn? There's a possibly OCD teacher with a serious crush on Will, but she's actualy endearing, there is the probably villain of the piece, the creepy cheerleading coach (they are national champions or somesuch), and an assortment of high school stereotypes and parents and such. (Rachel has two gay dads who spoiled her and encouraged her talent maybe a bit too much.)

Underdogs! Fighting against the odds and their society to try and achieve greatness and be seen for all they can be! music! dancing! earnest high school angst! I love it, and we won't get episode two until the FALL.

I dunno, no matter how many vids I see to this song, I don't think it's trite, I just think it is... versatile! I saw JMS talk a few weeks ago, and rewatched this vid, and remembered how very much Babylon 5 meant to me. There was so much, so much more than can be summarized in one vid. This one is somewhat Sheridan-centric, but there is lots there. It makes me happy and wistful and nostalgic and hopeful all at once.
